SCOPE OF WORK:

Meghna Bridge, situated on a 25 km stretch of Dhaka-Chittagong Highway (NH1) is a pre-stressed concrete bridge with central hinges that opened for in 1991. Abnormal vibration and sound were noticed in Meghna Bridge during the passage of heavy vehicles over it. Investigation revealed that the central hinge bearings and expansion joints of Meghna Bridge were damaged. We accepted the project for rehabilitation

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The rehabilitation work of the 930 meter-long Meghna Bridge & 1410 meter long Gumti Bridge involved the permanent solution of 278 meter expansion joint with long lasting finger type joint.

The Challenges

As an important route, the traffic volume of the bridge is huge, with approximately 30,000 vehicles plying every day, which is why it was extremely challenging to continue work in parallel to controlling traffic.
